Granola Gambit
A downloadable game
Granola Gambit is a print, cut & and play game inspired by the cereal boxes of my childhood. Before I developed an interest in the daily newspaper, I enjoyed the little puzzles and games printed on the back side of the cereal boxes each morning. There were coloring activities, mazes, puzzles, sometimes even a toy to cut out and play with. I wanted to add to that tradition with a little skirmish game that pushes the idea a bit further, involving cutlery and even the cereal itself in the game.
This game is designed to be printed on a heavy sheet of paper (e.g. 180 g/m²) in the format of 36.5cm x 24.5 cm (14.5 in x 9.5 in). However, it just prints as well on A4 paper. Just make sure to keep the aspect ratio or the die template will become unusable.
To assemble and play the game, you will need a pair of scissors, a little bit of glue, some kind of pen or marker, a handfull of cereal and a spoon. Optional ingredients are a bunch of colors (crayons, colored pencils, markers, etc.), a factory-made six-sided die, and two coins to stabilize the robot characters.
Made for the Cereal Box Game Jam 2025.
