A downloadable zine

I made a lil zine about sewing hex maps by hand! I'm currently working on a Battletech map sheet quilt and this is how I do it. The zine is black on white, it has 16 pages and is laid out so that you can print, fold, and cut your own. It's designed for A4 paper but you can print it on any sheet of paper with the same aspect ratio.

You will need a printer that can print black, and a pair of scissors or a knife to make the cuts. If your printer can't print double-sided, you can assemble the zine from two sheets laid on top of each other (this is how I made my prototype), or cut out and glue the front and back cover on the zine. Or just draw your own covers!

For folding and cutting, check out this helpful guide by Sinoun of Atomic Air. I've also provided written instructions for printing and assembly along with the files.

There are two versions of the zine in the files, one with the original scanning artifacts for a traditional, photocopied look. The other one is tidied up and contains no scanner shadows. I got the best results with my printer by scaling them to 99% in Acrobat Reader in the printing dialog. I will add a text only version with image descriptions soon.

This zine is licenced under CC-BY-SA 4.0 and it was made without generative AI tools.
